Thank you for bringing this important message today, Lord. Thank you for giving us your Holy Word and thank you for Paul. And thank you for using Tim to share. I need this reminder, often.
It is true that the more we give in true service, the more we receive from our Lord. Being submitted to Jesus and serving others from a loving heart brings glory to God. Knowing this to be true is a start, putting it into daily practice is not easy. It helps me to think that I am joining the work of the Holy Spirit in service to those in need. And the need is great! Why we do what we do is more important than what we do. May we are learn to serve with grateful hearts and join in pushing back the darkness. And may it become our lifestyle.

So so good. I love this passage too. It was the one I have chosen to read at my friends and family member’s weddings, bc I love how Paul just seems to sum up the lot of the Christian walk. And marriage.
Ugh, how I love to be selfish. And I don’t even try to be, but it just seems to always come out of me unless I willingly let Jesus in and lead me—-every single day. Needless to say, some days I can run faster with this and some days I just stink at it. I personally battle between often operating on the spectrum of shame or pride, which both make it “all about me”. . I know Jesus is always in the middle of those, and on those glimpses in my life where I can live out serving others best, He gently just takes my heart and it feels light and free when I offer my time, attention or actions for others.
Thanks Tim, for leading us! And actually the break was nice bc it made me so hungry and excited to see another video in my inbox! Way to keep us on our toes and not get complacent. 🙂

Way to spin my lateness, Laurie! Ha! But thanks for these thoughts…Paul is giving us a really high bar here, to have the same mindset as Jesus himself. Thank God there is grace as we fail to live up to the task! But at the same time, I’m so grateful that this is what I am called to strive to; imagine if we served a God who used his God-ness for his own advantage… who made himself the endpoint of love and grace, at our expense. God in his goodness flipped the idea of ultimate power completely upside down.

Tim, thank you for continuing to make this a church that both teaches theological truths and focuses on the daily actions we can take to be true disciples of Christ. There is no doubt Paul was concerned with both.
